Mr. Ahmed is an IT professional and Digital Technology Expert, with over 20 years’ experience.  After completing his Bachelor of Mathematics Statistics at DJ Sind College Karachi University (Pakistan), he taught at Shah Abdul Latif University where he received his Master’s Degree in Informational Technology. He continued his studies in Pakistan at Shaheed Zulifikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, where he received his 2nd Master’s Degree in IT.

He began his work at First Microfinance Bank (Pakistan), a nation-wide bank and subsidiary of the Aga-Khan Development Network, where he served as IT officer, System Analyst, and Senior Manager for IT. In this capacity, he successfully implemented a core banking system at the head office, its 115 branches; and implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (Oracle ERP including Oracle Financial project).

He then joined the FINCA microfinance network in Afghanistan, as Head of IT, where for 8 years he managed IT operations. During this time, Shahid successfully completed implementation of a core banking system and established a data center at the Head Office and its 19 branches. Through his contribution, FINCA Afghanistan won a grant from World Bank for a technology innovation project, which included biometric customer authentication, customer registration through tablet devices, secure loan documentation, and SMS alert for customer’s due payments. Thereafter, he led successful implementation of a donor-funded project for Paperless Banking (DFS) with built-in biometrics, using tablets.

Under his management, IT teams have increased efficiency of operations and contributed to significant cost savings by improving the technical infrastructure and introduction of innovative technology.

Mr. Ahmed continues to advance his qualifications by attending specialized trainings, including professional certifications. He is a Certified Digital Financial Practitioner (CDFP) by Tufts University and is comfortable working in English, Urdu, and Persian languages.
